It's summer. I don't know about you guys - but I can't digest food for shit. Perhaps it's the millions of projects I got going on. Perhaps it's the heat. Perhaps it's because I'm a FartyGirl and that's the story of my life.
Due to said projects - posts will be blurby for a while. They will be quick recipes, quick tips, quick shout-outs. Y'know the drill.

What you see here is today's post-workout snack: Vanilla Tarragon Chia Puddin'.
It looks scary. But I swear, it's really tasty. This is how it happened.
I came in from the gym and set some chia seeds to soak while I showered. After about 20 minutes, I returned to whip them with a fork. I added Greener Grasses, hemp milk, and stevia. I was all ready to dig in - when I saw the tarragon peeking out of the cupboard at me.
Out of nowhere, Caveman Foods came to mind.
Caveman foods is a water kefir company local to my beloved Pennsylvania country.
They offer a variety of water kefirs in artistic assortments. You can get saffron kefir. You can get black pepper kefir. You can get tarragon kefir!
My fave is the tarragon. It tastes like white wine, but better! Plus it gives you the good bacteria necessary to keep your stomach digesting well and your immune system kickin'.
So I added some to my puddin' to taste. Then I added more. Then I added more.
The piney taste of tarragon mixed so lovely with the sweet vanilla stevia. It carried a complexity to the puddin'. The slight saltiness of Greener Grasses rounded it out for a perfect healthy mid-morning snack.

Vanilla Tarragon Chia Puddin'
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1/4-1/2 cup non-dairy milk
4 drops of vanilla Nu Naturals stevia
1/2 teaspoon Greener Grasses
1/4-1/2 teaspoon tarragon
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1/4-1/2 cup non-dairy milk
4 drops of vanilla Nu Naturals stevia
1/2 teaspoon Greener Grasses
1/4-1/2 teaspoon tarragon
Soak chia and 1/4 cup non-dairy milk for 20-30 minutes. Whisk with a fork periodically. Add more milk if desired. When the puddin' has reached your texture of choice, add the rest of the ingredients.
Note: If you are skeevy about the slimy texture of chia, you can make this recipe with chia powder, or grind chia seeds in a processor or blender.

I've never had chia seeds. But I definitely want to try them.
Favorite snacks? Hmm...sweet potatoes. Yogurt if I'm eating dairy, which I'm not.
My digestion's a bit crazy these days too...I swear, I've been eating so healthy! No gluten,no dairy, no sugar, light home cooked meals, taking my enzymes...yet still I have heartburn and bloating. No fair.
I've never had Chia seeds, but plan to get some soon.
MY bday's coming up and all I really want is a shopping spree at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's :)
My tummy has been WAYYYYYYYY off since Sunday morning when my boys went skydiving (i was nervous for them ). It looks like i'm about 6 months prego with a fart baby :(
Fave snack: yeah, sweet potato pretty much rocks
Fave flavors: peanut butter flavor :)
Weird food concoctions: when you stop eating the typical American diet it's hard to know what's considered weird anymore.
I think weird is my new normal! :)
A couple years ago my stepson saw me making something in the kitchen and said, "you don't eat like an American."
Best compliment ever!
I can't deny that it does look a little scary, but a lot of food does to me!
I have to admit that the ingredients sound yummy. Plus, I'm a sucker for vanilla.
The next time I come over to your house, I hope you'll make me some along with a nice tall glass of basil, kale, coconut water smoothie!
Iris - Maybe it's stress? From FBook and twitter, it sounds like you are goin through a lot right now. I hope you feel better soon. I know you got Sax, but email me if you need to vent! :)
Heather - When is your bday? Mine's is next Monday!!! Same wish. Rather have a gift card than a DVD any day. And yeah, LOVE that compliment from your stepson!!!
Momma - Was planning on it! We totally have to set up a date! GeeMommyClair wants to see the Bobble too.
Anney-my bday's the 23rd :)
If I don't remember to tell you on the 14th, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Geminis and Gemini-Cancer cusps represent!
You know I have a special place in my heart for you Geminis. :)
Bobbles and I will be invading your home soon. I've already told you how I want to see and smell those tomato plants. Now the promise of pudding and smoothies might just get me to drive down to your area sooner than later!
And the biggest benefit of all, time spent with my favorite farty girl!
i love chia pudding. i also put chia in my smoothies. ch ch ch chia!=)
snacking is my life so i can't pick a favorite. i prefer munchies, like kale chips, raw cheez-its, and flax crackers. when i'm in the mood for something sweet - organic oranges or dried cranberries. (though processed sugars cause my interstitial cystitis flare-ups, unfortunately.)
i like all flavors. cilantro is my favorite herb and vanilla is heaven.
recent weird concoction - a kale salad i made recently with pickles and green olives. it was amazing, and no, i'm not pregnant.
i'm sending your belly some healing digestive love!=)
Kelli - Cilantro is one I wanna try putting in stuff more often. What do you put it in? I'd be mad interested. I ate a very cilantroie salsa once, but IDK what else it goes in.
This chia pudding looks amazing! Love the color and you know we love water kefir! You are lucky to have a company that makes it for you!! All the flavors sound interesting and good!
I go through periods of liking chia, right now I am loving them.

im curious to try!
I'm kinda digging chia seeds. They typically only make it into my smoothies though - I've only made pudding with them once. And it was plain. But I love them much more than flaxseed - they're a good fiber boost and they don't do what flaxseed does to my intestines! I'm super-jealous of your water kefir people! I want some!
I totally feel you on the crazy digestion issues. I decided to take dairy out, and limit corn, to limit the horrid C and heartburn (and nausea and insomnia) as of late. Grr. Upping the probiotics sorta helps though - not the pill versions, but the kombucha, naturally fermented pickles, sauerkraut, etc version. I just have to remember to include some at each meal.
Love chia seeds! I like making pudding, but I also like adding a small amount to smoothies and my granola. Favorite snacks: banana slices dipped in tahini, carrot sticks and homemade hummus, and right this minute pistachios!
My belly has been acting really wack lately too - hopefully this bad belly business will pass for all of us soon.
I recently (yesterday) started taking a magnesium supplement - it was recommended to me by a nutritionist and local health food store owner. It is supposed to help "get things movin." We'll see!

Tasty - I hear you. It's hard to remember to eat the probies at every meal. They are so tart and cold, it's not exactly appetizing all the time - especially at night.
Ashlie - I read in an issue of "Living Without" about sesame allergies recently. That's somethin' to think about. The oil is in so much of our food that we don't know about - as well as tahini and hummus. I try not to eat too much of either, but it's hard cos sesame is GOOD and really energizing.
Ooops! Forgot I'm signed in under my alias!!! :)
Oooh, if I had that Tarragon drink, my favorite snack would include that. Yum. Those flavors look great. Always looking for an alternative to my beloved Kombucha.
And what a great chia pudding recipe- simple. :)
Thanks!
I love salsa and carrots as a snack! I wish I had chia seeds but I don't do online food orders and they're so expensive in stores. I can go ahead and say I'm not a tarragon fan though!

Ha! That stuff does look scary! But it sounds delicious, so that's all that matters ;-)
Favorite flavors? Hmm... With sweet stuff, I'm pretty standard: chocolate and vanilla. You can blend just about anything with chocolate and I'll love it: chocolate and coffee, chocolate and peanut butter, orange chocolate, mint chocolate... When it comes to real foods, I adore basil, garlic, and umm... ginger? There's so many more, but that's just off the top of my head ;-)
